The biggest question I got asked when I decided to open Industrial Storage was “The economy is in terrible shape, why now?” My answer was “Companies are facing competitive and profitability challenges worse than any in a generation and I can help.”

I guess I could have gone and stuck my head in the sand and waited for the economy to get better, or I could go out, make a difference and live the American Dream. No matter what your political persuasion, what you think about the health care bill, availability of credit, uncertainty in the market or the outcome of the midterm elections, I started a business that is needed in this market and any market. Companies are always trying to improve their operations so they can make themselves more profitable and gain competitive advantage in their marketplace.

My twenty-five years in material handling have taught me a lot of things, but one thing in particular. A lot of companies see material handling and the supply chain as a necessary evil and don’t give it the attention it deserves. With jobs being outsourced overseas, our predominantly service-based economy is less and less in the business of manufacturing and more and more in the distribution business. Getting products in and out of the door with the least amount of touches and at the lowest cost is to everyone’s benefit. As companies continue to struggle coming out of this recession, their top line numbers will continue to grow slower than usual. Companies that continue to improve and minimize operational expenses will be the ones that survive.

Material handling is a very broad industry and there are usually multiple system implementations that could improve your business. My goal, and therefore Industrial Storage’s goal will be to provide the best solution. We won’t just fit what we have to your situation. My company and the future of our country depend on continually analyzing and implementing the best solution. I’m up to the task and I’ll be just fine. I’m living the American Dream.
