Thank You Veterans!
You are probably wondering what a blog about Veteran’s Day is doing on a material handling company website. You will notice if you read my bio on the website, I opened Industrial Storage in September of 2010. The prior two years, however, I maintained my residence in Phoenix, while I ran a material handling company in California. For two straight years, I boarded an airplane and slept in a hotel four days a week. When I started off this chapter of my career, my daughter had just turned one. When it ended, she had had her third birthday and I had missed out on seeing her grow up for several hundred days of her life. Although they are days I will never get back and feel very unappreciated for the sacrifice, I do feel blessed to at least have seen her three days every week. This is where the Veterans come in.
Whenever I started to feel sorry for myself, I always remembered all of those men and women in our armed forces. Many of them not only put themselves in harm’s way, but go months on end without getting to see their spouses, kids and other loved ones. All of a sudden, 4 days a week didn’t seem like such a big sacrifice. I honestly don’t know how some of them do it.
So on November 11th, 2010, I would personally like to thank all of the men and women in our armed forces, and all of the veterans who have created the greatest country in the world. A country that allows me to sleep in peace, raise my kids in a democracy and start a company from scratch. Thank you to you all and I hope you have a wonderful Veteran’s Day!
